No mice!

      We are here and not obviously busy posting on blogger! We are busy watching the Olympics, enjoying the lovely sunshine and still puttering in the kitchen.  The new countertops arrived and Donald has been busy installing them with his usual methodical precision.  They are beautiful and the mitered joins are perfect.  The pictures will follow when we are all done.  I have taken a break from painting while the countertops are being worked on.  That is alright, as I completed a couple of quilting projects while watching television.  The upcoming week is my busiest week of the year at work, and hopefully it will be my last time for 'the week'.  We did make a trip out to where we store our RV to check for mice and there was no evidence of any, even though we did go prepared with a jar of peanut butter to add to the traps if needed.  Gatorgirl certainly enjoys trips out there!

Proud to be Canadian

The Opening Ceremonies were unbelievable.  We can't even say what was our favorite - I loved the whales swimming across the floor, the singing of O Canada, the Prairies acrobatic work with Joni Mitchell's ( of Saskatoon, Sask.) song playing, and best of all a team of people to light the torch, symbolizing the teamwork of the Olympics.

The work of the 'slam poet' in particular struck a lovely chord.  Indeed, we say our pleases and thank you's.

long time, no post

Ah - it has been a while since the last post.  We are very busy still working on the kitchen renovation.  It is perhaps 1/3 to 1/2 done.  Today, Donald finished up the window trim on the large kitchen window over the sink, and it looks great.  Work is busy and will be even busier for Kim as she heads into the busiest time of the year for her.  Tomorrow is an exciting day at work - the local High School has an extensive Career Preparation class for all Grade 10 students and part of the curriculum involves students applying for 'mock jobs' and doing 'mock interviews' for these jobs.  Local businesses participate with the High School in conducting these interviews with the students in a formal setting.  Some of the businesses use those interviews for their summer hiring program.  Kim will be doing interviews on behalf of her company with three students.  They better put their best game forward - no just kidding - she mostly gives them great hints about how to write a great resume and present themselves as they move forward in their school and careers.

We have tickets to attend a Big Band Dance on Saturday night - 7 hours of live Big Band music - very formal, very classy.  Should be fun.
