poor wee thing

The other day, Al of the Bayfield Bunch, posted about how his dog, Max, was starting to show his age.  Our wee Gatorgirl is doing much the same.  She has slowed down considerably and has to be lifted into the truck.  Ok, I find it a bit of a leap to get into the truck.  Good thing for handles, but alas, the wee one can't use them.

 Today was a bit of a trauma for her.  She has been losing teeth over the past few years, gently removed by Dr. Mike, her Vet.  This morning she is down to four remaining teeth.  Dogs do adapt though and she was not chewing her hard dog food anyway.  Dr. Mike said she would not feel like eating for the rest of the day after her operation.  True to form, she was drooling for some of Donald's after dinner cookie.  So, part of a cookie went down pretty fast.  Then she was stomping her feet for something in her bowl around 7:00 pm, and wasted no time scarfing down some soft food.  We are glad to see she is returning quickly to her wily ways and routine. 

This weekend, she will get a much needed bath and face clean.  We'll see how happy she is after that.   ( Hint: she runs when her collar comes off because she knows it is bath time)

We also had a good discussion with Dr. Mike to get her shots and records updated for future border travel.

Autumn Chores

We did not feel like blogging since learning of the horrendous loss of fellow RV bloggers, Margie and Bruce.  Like many RV bloggers, Margie always was quick to comment on your blog with the kindest words and advice.    After a weekend of grief and thought, getting back to blogging is important I believe Margie would have wanted that.

We are continuing with chores around the house and yard.  Donald is finishing off the back deck, which we had planned to do anyway.  It is a three year project, and this is the last part.  Donald is a bit of a perfectionist, and wanted the deck to be done correctly, to" make it right", as another well - known professional builder says. The grade underneath has been corrected and he is building the deck out of treated wood and has properly levelled it.  I think this is the third huge deck on the third house he has built.  Hopefully, we will only have one more to do and that would be in the future at the Shuswap lot.

Our youngest son has returned from Part One of five visits to the British Columbia Institute of Technology in Burnaby, BC.  He is home for 10 weeks, and then off again January 1st for another 8 weeks.  Donald has a rib recipe that he likes to make, and that was the welcome home supper last night.  MMM MMM.

Yes, it is a good day for ducks today - rainy, damp and cool.
