Boys, stay still and carefully raise your feet!

 Well, we are living in the habitat that belongs to wild burros, coyotes, snakes, spiders and also the scorpion.  The residents we have met are the burros and we have heard the coyotes.  Today, I had the pleasure of seeing Mr.(Mrs?) Arizona Barker within inches of Bob and Don's lawn chairs, while they were enjoying their morning coffee.

His tail was not up like the one in the picture, as it was busy running from Bob's RV to underneath our 5th wheel.  Good thing our cat is an indoor cat!  Bob looked up scorpions in Arizona on his IPad so we could identify it and know what we are dealing with.  The one I saw was an Arizona Barker. Very distinctive. It was kind of neat to see one in the wild!

Don and Bob have been busy fixing things.  Donald changed the oil in our little Honda generator and then they built a box to hold Bob's Honda generator in his motorhome.

We have also been to Mexico a couple of times - dentist appointment! We will be having to go back a few times, alas.  Donald is very impressed with the dental offices, spotlessly clean with more up to date equipment than our dentist in Canada.

The skies around the area have been busy with aircraft jumpers ( parachutists with parachutes that they control to land in a certain place ), as the Army Yuma Proving Grounds base has a jump school.

Senator Wash is 23 miles from Yuma, so we take our little cooler bag with an icepack to go grocery shopping, however, it is pretty tough to keep ice cream very solid.  So, what's a boondocker to do?  Wait till Friday for the Ice Cream truck to come right to your site! mmmm.

Valley views

I thought I saw some bright lights out across the valley each night, so we took a drive in Bob's SUV to check out my addled brain visions.  Yep, it was a vision all right, as it was only some of the RV solar light pathways.  Theirs must be brighter than ours!   We drove very close to the mountains on the west side of the valley, enjoying signs of very ancient volcanic activity and signs of spring. The bright colours of the desert plant flowers contrast so vividly with the browns of the rocks and dirt.

Yesterday, Don and Bob went into Yuma to look at LED lights for RV's, and to check out compressors. I think it is an excuse to go to tool places, but they love it! So, I stayed back at the Wash to complete the quilting on another quilt, that now rests on the foot of our bed. There is always a bit of a wind here, and I tried to lay the quilt on a couple of chairs to take a picture, but in the end needed assistance!

So much for desert views with the quilt - ha! I guess a couple of desert guys will suffice. You can double click on the pic, of course, if you would like to see it close up.

Well, it is a beautiful day and the weather outlook now shows that it may get up to 83 this week - whoo hoo!

Looks like all the RV's are parking lot camping, don't they? Believe me, they are not very close to one another, just from a very long distance they do.  Ah, the expanses of Arizona, Love it.

Hangin' out at the Wash

Senator Wash, that is.  It continues to be a busy place, with boondockers and the nearby Yuma Proving Ground Army base testing munitions early in the morning, with a little tank dust thrown in. WE missed the Annual Cookie Drive here, and the Boondocker's Chatter newsletter informed us that 745 dozen cookies were baked and delivered by the boondockers to the YPG base for their use during the year. Wow. The Emergency Personnel on the base were very pleased and grateful for all the cookies.

 Sometimes, it's a zoo here.  Last evening, the local wild burros made a stop by our little encampment, but they were not interested in our rig - only Bob's with the smell of something good cooking! We do not feed them, as this will only encourage this type of behaviour.

I am anxious to get back into pulling out some quilting that was packed away for our short move, however, I may have to send Don and Bob away for the day to do that.  The weather is too cool to sit outside for the day, but our solar panels are throwing in a whopping 19 amps at times. We do have them tilted here towards the south.  Also as usual, the big fancy rigs are here with their 7 panels, wind set ups, you name it!

Just a quick note to say that we are enjoying the vista views at Senator Wash LTVA with our friend Bob tonight.

On the way, we stopped at the Arco station that comes out of Borrego, and who should also be stopping? Al and Kelly of the Bayfield Bunch.  More later ..... except that the Pheebs stayed in the motorhome and we don't think Al's ham sandwich remained untouched while we chatting - sorry Al!

Ta - ra, Palm Springs

We have had a fantastic time here in the Desert Hot Springs/Coachella Valley this winter, and now it's time to make our way onto new adventures. The past couple of weeks we have been visiting and touring around with park friends, fantastic people that we hope to meet again. It almost seems like the end of the school year, when you have been with your buddies for the year, then it seems the summer break is a welcome relief from studies, but not from goofing around with friends! ( Dances, roadtrips, hikes ...)

Tonight, we are invited to Rick and Paulette's for coffee and dessert after supper, them tomorrow we will be very busy in the morning hooking up the rig to head out.  We're not sure the direction we will go, as the winds have really kicked up in the valley - today they are up to 60 mph. Yikes. If the wind tomorrow is from the west, we shall head off on the I-10 towards Quartzsite.  If they are from another direction, we may go down 86 towards El Centro. That decision will have to wait for the morning.

I will miss the Clubhouse Quilters Group - so friendly and inspiring! Donald will miss buddies stopping by to say, hey let's go for 9 holes, see ya in 15 minutes and the morning roadside conversations in front of our RV.  

see ya in a couple of days...... Congrats to Kim's parents for being asked by Rogers Communications to do a television special on them - a long lived marriage. They enjoyed a couple of days of a film crew at their home, at least we hope it was enjoy! ( www.rogerstv.com ... Georgian Bay Life ... February 14 )
