Cowboy cookies? Quilt Gift!

When some fellow Canadian bloggers went south this past winter ( Al and Kelly; Rick and Paulette ) they were treated to a gift of Cowboy cookies from American bloggers Jerry and Suzy.  Well, I don't know if that is starting a blogger cultural tradition or not.  After all, we do read each others blogs, but meeting up in person is pretty rare.
Ralph and Donna and their friends will be here on Friday, and I can't bake for the life of me!  Oh no.  Think, think.  Whatever it is should be something "canadian".  Well, I do quilt.... but they probably have enough blankets in their RV's for the frozen north here. Ha!  So, how about a hotpad so they can put hot casserole type dishes on their countertops in the RV?
Now, the theme.  Yep, gotta be Canadian, but subtle.  Yep, should probably match colours in their RV's.  Yep, should probably have an "Alaskan" theme as well for their big trip to cross the border 3 hours from here.

So, I used some fish fabric from one of my favorite designers, Lisa Moore of Sitka, Alaska, and mixed it with the subtle Canada theme.  Now wait, what about something about our little place?  All winter long, our yard is visited by moose, so I made it reversable!

I hope they don't prefer cookies....... mine would taste like moose!

some decisions made ....

Some time ago, our wee brains were having a tough time with " do we get a park model, do we get a fifth wheel, do we stay with the travel trailer, do we... do we..." You get the picture.  One decision was made via a deposit holding it this past weekend.
     Stay tuned!

So Excited! Visitors coming!

We are so excited!  We are going to have fellow bloggers drop by on their way to Alaska! Donna and Ralph ( adventureswithtassie.blogspot.com) are travelling through our area near the end of this upcoming week.  We will be letting them know the best/cheapest places to get diesel and what to see.

The first campout went well last weekend, even though the weather was rainy at times.  This week Donald has finagled another satellite dish with a tripod and a DC (power) satellite receiver.  He has been setting it up in different places in the yard to practice.  He also had a garage sale yesterday and we sold a few items.

Beautiful weather now and we are looking forward to a great week!

getting ready for the weekend and " We are Amused! "

Ah! this is the first campout of the year and as usual, we need to start new " to do" lists and get organized again. No problem.  We only go 12 miles away and if we forget anything it is easy enough to pop back to home and pick it up. This is Victoria Day weekend for all of Canada with a few celebrations in honour of Queen Victoria. No, corsets are not part of the dressing up this weekend - just jeans and campfire stinky clothes!

Now, one of the reasons for the sparse posting of late is that my camera is not working properly.  I do not like posting without pictures.  That will be the goal for tomorrow - get it working.

Not sure how many of  ' the gang ' are going to be out this weekend, but we always seem to make do and have a good time whoever shows up.  The weather is showing to be rainy but that never deters us.

Stinky driveway

I seem to be a reluctant blogger these days as Life is happening and blogging has taken a hit in the daily routine.  We have been busy, or I should say Don has been busy.  The driveway has been given a coat of black stinky driveway " airport grade" coating.  It looks good, it just reeks going on.  The kitchen is finally finished - the only thing left to do is paint the frame around the kitchen window screen insert.  A new window has been placed on order for the main floor bathroom. That should be here in two weeks.  A plan is now made to finish the last third of the back deck, removing the hot tub and disposing of it.

We have been contemplating whether to rent the house, instead of placing it up for sale.  We have renters available who are very interested.  There are many opinions on this and we are only thinking about the pros and cons at this stage.  The market is good for selling and that is not the issue.  Many houses here are selling within days of being placed in the market.

The weather is simply beautiful these days and spring has finally come to the north.  I just wish I was outside of the office environment and breathing in fresh air! Soon...soon....soon.......
