We did not feel like blogging since learning of the horrendous loss of fellow RV bloggers, Margie and Bruce. Like many RV bloggers, Margie always was quick to comment on your blog with the kindest words and advice. After a weekend of grief and thought, getting back to blogging is important I believe Margie would have wanted that.
We are continuing with chores around the house and yard. Donald is finishing off the back deck, which we had planned to do anyway. It is a three year project, and this is the last part. Donald is a bit of a perfectionist, and wanted the deck to be done correctly, to" make it right", as another well - known professional builder says. The grade underneath has been corrected and he is building the deck out of treated wood and has properly levelled it. I think this is the third huge deck on the third house he has built. Hopefully, we will only have one more to do and that would be in the future at the Shuswap lot.
Our youngest son has returned from Part One of five visits to the British Columbia Institute of Technology in Burnaby, BC. He is home for 10 weeks, and then off again January 1st for another 8 weeks. Donald has a rib recipe that he likes to make, and that was the welcome home supper last night. MMM MMM.
Yes, it is a good day for ducks today - rainy, damp and cool.

We are down one less piece of furniture
We emailed a realtor today about the house. Big move. We are less one coffee table. Things are starting.... starting.....
Ok - funny thing about that coffee table. A friend of ours had a nice small table with fold up sides. It was hardwood of some type, perhaps maple. It was painted a horrible very bright red/orange/pink. That was about 35+ years ago. The bachelor friend meets up with Donald and the table is broken, so he doesn't want it. He goes on to get married. Donald takes the table, known as Early Canadian Poverty Design, and fixes said table leg. The friend now wants the table back - forget it. Donald meets up a few years later with his soon to be wife, who looks at the table, says what an awful color, strips the table back to the original and stains it. Beautiful. Later she cuts the legs down as they already have an oak dining table and it becomes their coffee table. Remember, this is 30 years ago.
Fast forward to today. Old friend is now moving his 26 year old daughter into her apartment, and we ask, hey - would you like to take back your table now and give it to her? He forgot about it, but then when we told him about that color and he remembered soon enough. Yep, that table has now gone full circle, back to Alberta and through it's original owner. Well, we may not remember what happened yesterday, but at least we remembered about that table. The table will soon be residing in a new young person's "Early Canadian Poverty" design style apartment. We hope she enjoys it.

Anderson Flats
We really enjoyed these past three days at a fairly new British Columbia Provincial Park: Anderson Flats. There is a second part of the park across the river called Bulkley Junction. The weather was beautiful on Saturday and Monday, cloudy on Sunday, but no rain. Whoo hoo.
I have changed the header picture to reflect the scene around our RV. GAWJUS! The park is day use only, but many RV's are there for a number of days, with the coho and steelhead fishing right there at the confluence of the Bulkley/Skeena and just a little further up, the Kispiox River.
Enjoy the pictures - I wish we had taken more, especially at 7:00 am with the fisherpersons down at the river. It was magical. My camera was acting up, and I was totally frustrated.

chores or the call of the wild
Retired Rod asked yesterday if the Inukshuk was marking something in particular, or just the river. As far as we could tell, it was just the river.
We have been busy still cleaning out the house with trips to the local dump and Donald has been pricing out green lumber in order to finish off the last 1/3 of the back deck. This has been a three year project, as it seems every time, it is a " thousand bucks"! I think we should just take the thousand bucks to the lumber store each time we go, because that seems to be the bill every time, no matter what project we are working on. Ha.
The weather continues to be wonderful - crisp cool mornings and warm afternoons. We should continue to be doing the house stuff, but we hear the call of the wild! So, perhaps Friday we will go out to one of British Columbia's newest Provincial Parks: Anderson Flats. We checked it out last Saturday and we very impressed.
